I got started in scuba diving in 1976 when I was working as a swimming instructor in Sacramento. After taking the beginning course, I quickly became really comfortable and at home underwater. I enrolled in the Professional Diving Instructor College in Monterey and was the top graduate in my class.

I started working at Marin Skin Diving in 1977 and since that time have spent countless hours teaching new divers in the pool and in the ocean in Monterey. I especially enjoy working with young people and anyone who needs a little extra support and attention to be successful in learning to dive. It is a great thrill to see someone who didn't think they could do it succeed and become a certified diver. When a student successfully completes a new skill like clearing their mask or a perfect navigation in the ocean I just love the smile that lights up their face.

My favorite dive locations include Monterey, the Southern California Channel Islands, Cozumel, Baja and Palau. With all the diving I do in Monterey and on our store sponsored dive trips I figure I have made over 5000 dives in open water.

Diving opens up a whole new world to anyone who is up to the challenge of learning. If you would like to give it a try you'll be amazed at how wonderful the experience can be.
